It&#8217;s always a great place to see the who, what, why, where, and when of digital content strategy. </p>
<p>It&#8217;s also a great gauge for us, to see where we sit in the grand scheme of content marketing. Digital video is increasing in demand, but with that comes increase in options&#8230;.with so much &#8220;video&#8221; on the web, who has time to view it all? The bar has to be raised on quality of production and storytelling. <a href="http://contentmarketingworld.com">Content Marketing World</a> gives us a place to push those boundaries and test our theories on &#8220;what&#8217;s next&#8221;. </p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>For three years now, OnScene has been working in the education sector, helping tell stories for both school districts and career technical education. It&#8217;s a strong passion of ours, to help reshape the perception of education and the role it plays in rebuilding our local economies. </p>
<p>This year was special. We were able to help build campaigns for local levy initiatives. But we didn&#8217;t want to simply tell people to &#8220;vote&#8221;. We wanted to be convinced that supporting each one of the schools we worked with was the right decision for the local voters. </p>
<h5>Meet Vandalia-Butler City Schools</h5>

<p>Our most convincing piece came out of a school district just north of Dayton, <a href="http://www.vbcsd.com">Vandalia-Butler</a>. Not only is this district in a tough spot, but they recently had organized opposition for a levy ballot last spring. The schools are in a difficult position. If the levy passes, they still have a $3 million deficit. If it does not, it&#8217;s a $10 million deficit, meaning they would have to cut up to 13 teachers, the amount needed to run an elementary school. </p>
<p>So we went to work, spending a few days in the area, learning from the students, administrators, and teachers. One of the most profound things we heard was &#8220;if the schools fail, the community follows&#8221;. What a powerful statement and oh so true. The question is, what is our education system, and how are we setting our children up to be successful within it?</p>
<p><em>Note: Vandalia-Butler City Schools contracted with OnScene Productions to create promotional pieces that helped share many different stories of their school district, including the financial challenges, which include what may happen as the result of a failed levy on Nov. 6. The above case study represents the viewpoint of the project from OnScene Productions and does not represent the intent of Vandalia-Butler City Schools or the Vandalia-Butler Levy Campaign.</em></p>

<p>We spent a week on location, helping capture not only the culture of this company but instructional tips on how best to use the automotive spray paint&#8217;s products. What an experience! There were a lot of similarities in how Pro-Spray and OnScene run their businesses, with small, efficient teams focused on value over price and the value of a relationship.</p>

<p>This year &#8220;Jungle Jack&#8221; Hanna was the closing keynote speaker and we got to sit down with him for a couple minutes just before his presentation. The conversation was inspiring. Jack Hanna marches to the beat of his own drum, and realizes those core attributes that make him unique are the very same that he&#8217;s so beloved for. His message is simple, have fun and be yourself.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Earlier this year OnScene partnered with <a target="_blank" href="http://mashed.bobevans.com">Bob Evans Farms</a> to create web video content for 2012-2013. We have two objectives with the partnership: 1, to showcase a variety of unique recipes from the Food Products division and 2, highlight the culture and brand identity of the company.</p>
<p>Our first project together was to promote Bob Evans&#8217; status as the #1 refrigerated mashed potato in America. <a target="_blank" href="http://brunnerworks.com">Brunner</a>, Bob Evans&#8217; agency on record, came up with a &#8220;Mad About Mashed&#8221; concept, in which we find creative ways to use the mashed potatoes in a variety of Mashtini recipes.</p>
<p>We had two productions for this campaign. A recipe shoot and a &#8220;product release&#8221; shoot, in Pittsburgh. Below are the results of this initial project. The campaign release coordinates with National Potato Day, which is August 19. </p>

<p>Our most recent trip down to Cincinnati, OH had us spend an entire week in the <a target="_blank" href="http://sycamoreschools.org">Sycamore Community Schools</a> district. We learned a lot about what it takes to make a great education culture, by spending time in this community. The content speaks for itself:</p>
